וְֽאִם־יִנָּגֵ֞ף עַמְּךָ֧ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל לִפְנֵ֥י אוֹיֵ֖ב כִּ֣י יֶֽחֶטְאוּ־לָ֑ךְ וְשָׁ֙בוּ֙ וְהוֹד֣וּ אֶת־שְׁמֶ֔ךָ וְהִתְפַּֽלְל֧וּ וְהִֽתְחַנְּנ֛וּ לְפָנֶ֖יךָ בַּבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּֽה׃

E se il tuo popolo Israele viene abbattuto davanti al nemico, quando peccano contro di Te, e si volgono di nuovo e confessano il tuo nome, pregano e fanno supplica davanti a Te in questa casa;

and confess - Heb. וְהוֹדוּ. The meaning is: and they will confess their iniquity, and the latter verse proves this (verse 26): “and confess to Your name and repent of their sin, so that You may answer them.”
